Atrius and Marhadan

The ground trembled with noiseless thunder and the air split, sliced by winged feet. The rushing wind stung Atrius' eyes, but he forced them to remain open. It was taking all of his effort and concentration just to keep up with Marhadan, and from what he knew of his friend he could tell that Marhadan was holding back for his sake. It was no secret that Marhadan loved to run. Some young stallions would race to pit their speed and stamina against other young stallions, and more often, to show off for the young mares. Not Marhadan. He ran for the sheer joy of running. "When I run, I feel like all my frustrations peel off and are left behind", he would tell Atrius. Atrius enjoyed a good run, but it was not his favorite thing to do. Exploring and practical jokes were more his style. He would, however, run with Marhadan on occasion (rather, he would trail Marhadan), especially when his own frustrations were bothering him most.
